Hana Kim is a LA based projection and set designer with experiences in film and graphic design.

Originally from South Korea, she is interested in creating amplified-multi-sensory experience that is similar to an immigrating experience to tell stories. Immigrating to a country is like re-living a life. It amplifies the sense of the world around you. The smallest things need great attention to decode, resulting in multiple interpretations. She is especially interested in the chemistry between the sense of space and the moving image; blurring/reclaiming the boundary between the concrete and the ephemeral, the real and the imaginary, the message and the metaphor.

Her design works have been seen across the country including Public Theater in NY, A.C.T in SF, SF Symphony, LA Opera, Geffen Playhouse, Pasadena playhouse, Baltimore Center Stage and South Coast Rep. Video Art installations have been shown at the Annenberg Space of Photography and Baryshnikov Arts Center in NY.

She is a recipient of Princess Grace Award in Theater Design, 2018 Sherwood Awards and a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. Her designs won Helen Hayes Award, Stage Raw Awards, StageSceneLA Awards, Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Awards and LA Drama Critics Circle with The Kinetic Lighting Award for distinguished achievement in theatrical design.
